Port of Tyne on the hunt to recruit apprentices
Youth recruitment agency Rising Star, based in South Shields, is on the look out to recruit 11 apprentices for the Port of Tyne- one of the UK’s major deep sea ports.
The 11 positions on offer are in a variety of roles including security, LGV driving, business administration, warehousing, stores/stock control and cargo operations at the Port’s South Shields base.
The apprenticeships are up to two years and have a weekly wage, ranging from £143 to £193, depending on the role.
The port currently employs 450 people managing the import and export of goods by sea, road and rail, and also runs the international cruise and ferry passenger terminal at North Shields.
The deadline to apply for the apprenticeships is next Friday. Successful candidates will work towards a recognised vocational qualification as well as gain valuable on the job training and development.
Applicants who successfully pass the initial screening process will be invited to attend a Port of Tyne Apprenticeship Selection Centre at the Rising Star office, which will include coaching on correct work attitudes and behaviours, interactive activities, interview skills and techniques, and a site visit to the port.
