Benitez took over at relegation-threatened Newcastle United last month after the dismissal of head coach Steve McClaren.

But Benitez's contract at St James's Park has a clause allowing him to leave in the event of relegation.

And Spain coach De Bosque – who will step down after Euro 2016 – has named the 55-year-old has one of three potential successors.

"There are many good Spanish managers – Benitez, (Everton manager) Roberto Martinez, Julen Lopetegui," said Del Bosque."

"Finding a new manager is very easy."

Benitez, focused on keeping Newcastle in the Premier League, has refused to take questions about his future.

United are 19th in the division and six points adrift of safety ahead of Saturday's game against Southampton at the St Mary's Stadium.
