Rafa Benitez wants 'tension' behind the scenes at Newcastle

The relegation-threatened club take on Aston Villa tomorrow in a must-win game.

Asked if there was any "nerves or tension" behind the scenes ahead of the fixture, United manager Benitez said: "I like a bit of tension because you perform better, but not too much.

"You can't go there and play with anxiety."

On the mood this week, he added: "Obviously, the mood is very positive.

"The players are happy and training well.

"Everybody has the right mentality and approach."

Meanwhile, Benitez has confirmed that defender Paul Dummett, out of contract next year, is set to get a new deal.

"I'm really pleased," he said. "He's doing well."
