Benitez's side was convincingly beaten 4-0 by Braga last night after a late capitulation.

The defeat underlined the need for more reinforcements, but Benitez "doesn't know" if there will be any more arrivals before the August 9 transfer deadline.

Asked by the Gazette if he was concerned, Benitez said: "I'm really worried. We'll try to change it in the next 10 days, I don't know how.

"We can talk, and be close (to a deal), but after we are not so close. I have no idea."

Asked if there was any money to spend, Benitez said: "I have no idea."

Benitez was asked about the unease among fans ahead of the new campaign given the lack of summer investment.

"They have to be concerned," said Benitez. "We are concerned also."

Asked if he expected any more signings, he said: "Maybe. Maybe not."
