Relax with some Thai massage therapy at new South Shields parlour
Thasanee Yaphonthan has always wanted to own her own massage parlour.
After moving to the borough in 2006, from Thailand, she was employed in a variety of jobs, but never gave up hope of one day owning her business.
Last week, she opened the doors to Nee-Ya Thai massage therapy spa in New Green Street, South Shields – turning her dream into a reality.
Traditional Thai Massage is a holistic therapy, combining modern scientifc knowledge of anatomy and physiology with the disciplines of traditional Oriental medicine.
Miss Yaphonthan said: “When I moved to South Shields I had a variety of jobs, but I always wanted to run my own massage therapy business. And now my dreams have come true.
“I want to help people to feel better through massage. And if I can make people feel better then that’s great.
“It has been hard work getting the shop ready. As I wanted it perfect for the people coming here. I want them to be happy and to come back.
“I have lots of people saying the massages are nice and they will be coming back. Some already have.”
Thasanee has spent a number of years training in the art of massage to deliver the range of relaxation services for her clients.
As well as the tradiional Thai body massage, she also offers aromatheraphy massage using oils from her own line of health and beauty products, Swedish massage, hot stone massage and deep tissue massage.
Treatments can vary from 30 minutes to two hours.
Miss Yaphonthan added: “I have spent a lot of money on the place to make it nice for my customers. This is the first time I have run my own business, and I want it to be a success.
