The Keep Boldon Green team has put together a dossier of information aimed at showcasing why the green belt should not be built on.

The campaign was launched after areas of the village were highlighted as possible places of development as part of the council’s strategic land review.

A drop-in session, held at the United Reform Church Hall on Saturday, led to more than 100 residents attending to endorse and add their comments on how the plans will affect their lives.

A second drop-in session will take place this Saturday from 10am until 2pm at the church hall for anyone who would also like to add their support, prior to the group handing over the document to the council’s chief planning officer.

Campaigner Jillian Duncan said: “The next stage of our campaign is to formally hand the document over to the chief planner.”
To date, the group says it has been overwhelmed by the support from residents within the area, with all meetings well-attended.

Other members of the group are Jayne Mackie, Clare Newton and Rosalind Hughes, all from Victoria Terrace.
