Sandhaven Amphitheatre mural to be unveiled as the summer’s live music season gets underway
A brand new mural is set to be unveiled in South Shields.
The Mayor of South Tyneside will be unveiling a brand new mural at the Sandhaven Amphitheatre this weekend.
Members of the public are invited to the amphitheatre, on Sea Road, in South Shields on Sunday, May 31, for the unveiling and the launch of this year’s live music season.

The mural has been chosen by Joe McElderry from a final shortlist of ten designs, which were submitted by local artists of all ages.
The winning piece is the result of a borough‑wide community competition that included nearly 100 entries - with each of them celebrating the creativity, seaside character and strong community spirit of South Tyneside.
Kicking off from 3.30pm, the event will also see The Lovemakers performing live music and a commemorative plaque installed to mark the occasion.
The new mural has been made possible thanks to the support of local businesses.
