Search for driver and passengers after Jaguar crashes down social club embankment

A Jaguar car was abandoned after crashed through two sets of railings near social club.

Northumbria Police was called to Oswald Street in Whiteleas, South Shields, at 11.50pm last night when officers received a report of a collision.

When they arrived, they found a black Jaguar XF Portfolio had driven down the embankment besides Whiteleas Social Club and through two sets of metal railings, causing extensive damage.

A force spokesman said: "The occupants fled the vehicle and police are carrying out a number of enquiries to try and identify them.

“Officers attended the scene and are currently investigating the incident.
