There will be no boats running between South Shields and North Shields, with the last service to leave South Shields at 4.45pm and North Shields from 5pm.

A replacement bus service will be running during the night.

The first bus to leave Hudson Street, outside the BT building, will depart at 5.30pm and then every half hour until 11pm.

On the north side, buses will leave North Quay, at the end of the ferry landing, starting and ending at the same times.

The buses cannot take bikes, with cyclists asked to use the Tyne Tunnel bike shuttle, which leaves every 30 minutes from the pedestrian tunnel entrances on Tyne Street in Jarrow and Tyne View Terrace in Howdon.

Nexus has apologised for any inconvenience cause and has said people should leave extra time for their journey.
