SHOTS & GIGGLES: Newcastle United's supremacy is bringing out a world of jealousy

Being relegated was a bitter pill to swallow, but Rafa Benitez's decision to remain as Newcastle United manager more than softened the blow for fans.

There were also cries from other fans that ‘Rafa will fail’, ‘Rafa doesn’t have the experience in the lower leagues’.

Jump ahead a few months and now imagine what Benitez could achieve if he did have that ‘crucial’ experience which he apparently needed to succeed.

Looking back now at those ridiculous comments, we’ve realised that it was probably the start of the jealousy and bitterness aimed towards Newcastle.

There were plenty of people who wanted to see both club and manager fail miserably in the Championship.

Many were shocked that a manager of the Rafa’s calibre would agree to be the manager of United in the Premier League, never mind holding the same role in the Championship.

Not many clubs could even dream of that, never mind it becoming a reality. Another reason for jealousy to rear its ugly head.

It’s safe to say that United will not get much praise from opposition fans this season as they witness their own team’s struggles to keep up with the players in black and white, rather than a simple pat on the back or a congratulations.

It’s an easy yet ridiculous insult to throw at the club.

Maybe it would be wise to invest funds into a few thousand dummies to pacify those fans who don’t know how to take defeat amicably.

It never seems to be a defeat courtesy of Newcastle’s true grit, determination and superiority. It always seems to be a ‘poor’ refereeing decision.

Surely, it’s about time these fans forgot about their pride and admitted that what Rafa Benitez and Newcastle United are doing right now is quite simply impressive.

Everyone seems to have it in for Newcastle United right now, and to be honest, it’s quite enjoyable being the number one target in this league. Long may it continue.
