Luke Adams is putting a shout out for people to take part in South Tyneside’s very own Santa Run.

It will be the third time the running enthusiast has organised such an event. This year he hopes to raise donations for The Key Project - a charity which supports young homeless people.

It will take place on December 11 at the Bents Park with a 1km run for children and beginners starting at 9.30am and a 5km run for adults and those over 12, starting at 10am.

Registration is from 8.30am until 9.20am at Minchellas at the Ampitheatre and entry is via a donation which will go towards helping young homeless people this Christmas. Donations can be clothes, food or toiletries.

Items will be given to young people directly or used in emergency support packs from The Key Project’s food bank.

Mr Adams said: “This is the first time we have done a run like this where the entry fee has been waived in exchange for a donation of an item or items to the charity.

“We’re all really looking forward to it. We have had lots of interest, already we have 100 runners signed up and includes around 40 young people.
