Pastor Joseph Omoragbon, who leads the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in South Shields, has bought 150 copies of a special book called The Servant Queen And The King She Serves.

The book has been published by The Bible Society, the HOPE charity and The London Institute For Christianity, to mark Her Majesty’s birthday, which is on April 21.

Pastor Joseph, whose church is based at the Armstrong Hall, in Stanhope Road, South Shields, now hopes to get copies of the book in every school library across South Tyneside.

He said: “The Queen is a wonderful woman and she does so much for her people.

“This special book has been created for her 90th birthday and the Queen herself has written the foreword.

“We’d like every school to have copies of the book in their library because we feel that many people don’t realise the good work that she does and how God has helped her.”

He added: “By reading it, we hope this will give pupils a better insight into her life and make them appreciate their Queen. ”

The book is split into nine chapters and offers insight and facts into the Royal life.

It says: “The Queen is by any measure a remarkable woman.

“She is a 90-year-old senior citizen, but still works over 40 hours a week.

They will now help donate the books to schools.

The Mayor said: “The Mayoress and I were honoured to meet Pastor Joseph and to receive copies of this fantastic illustrated tribute to the Queen and how her faith has helped shape her life and work.

“We are planning to donate the books to schools across South Tyneside to help celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday later this month.”

The RCCG, founded in 1952 by Nigerian pastor Josiah Akindayomi, puts Gospel music and song at the heart of its services.

The South Shields branch has more than 150 members since its launch last April.
