South Shields comedy legend Bob Stott to share stories of life on stage

A South Tyneside comedy legend is returning to the stage to share all the things that make him laugh the most.

Bob Stott is set to present his own charity sketch show, which will feature his favourite skits from the Laffalang.

Bob, 70, from South Shields, has been treading the boards since he was just 10, and will also be chatting about his life on stage.

He began his comedy career as part of a sketch troupe at West Harton Methodist Church, and went on to entertain thousands of people as Dame Dotty in the Customs House pantomime for more than four decades.

Bob also acted with the Westovian Theatre Society, and has been part of the Laffalang since it began in 2014.

Laffalang director Gareth Hunter said: “This year marks a number of anniversaries. Bob recently celebrated his 70th birthday, he’s celebrating 60 years of being an entertainer, and the next Laffalang marks our 10th landmark show.

“Bob will be regaling us with his jokes and anecdotes about productions he has performed in since his first pantomime at the Westovians in 1976, and we’ll be featuring his favourite Laffalang sketches.

“It is guaranteed to be a fantastic night. There will also be some surprises.”

The Laffalang with Bob Stott is at the Westovian Theatre, in Pier Parade, South Shields, on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23.

All profits will go to the Children’s Heart Unit Fund, at the Freeman Hospital, where Bob’s youngest grandson had life-saving treatment.
