South Shields FC Director completes charity away day run
A director of South Shields Football Club ran to the club’s most recent away day for charity.
The Mariners played Spennymoor Town on Good Friday with Carl Mowatt, the club’s Commercial Director, taking on the challenge of running between the two clubs.

Raising money for Dementia UK, Mowatt ran the nearly 23 mile journey and made it to the County Durham club in time for kick off.

At full time Mowatt had raised £891 for the charity with the public still able to make online donations.
The challenge is part of a campaign by Dementia UK called Fans vs Dementia, which encourages football fans to make their own way to an away fixture in the 2025-26 season.
Fans can sign up for a similar challenge by picking a fixture and signing up through the Dementia UK website.
With nearly a marathon in his legs, Mowatt watched South Shields draw 1-1. They sit second in the National League North.
