South Shields road closed after collision '“ one hurt
Stanhope Road has been closed following the incident which involved four vehicles.
Firefighters had to cut free the driver of a Fiat.
They were put onto a spinal board and taken by ambulance to South Tyneside Hospital with a suspected broken leg and ankle.

Hide AdThe driver of a Vauxhall Corsa got out of the car by themselves before the emergency services arrived.
They were treated at the scene by paramedics as a precautionary measure.
The North East Ambulance service said it dispatched two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to the scene just before midday on Sunday.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “There has been a road traffic collision involving a number vehicles on Stanhope Road in South Shields.
“Emergency services are in attendance and people are asked to avoid the area.
“The road is currently closed and diversions are in place.”
