South Shields theatre society remembers an acting legend who ‘graced their stage countless times’
The Westovians have remembered the life of Bob Stott following his passing.
A long-standing South Shields theatre group has paid tribute to a much-loved actor and comedian following his death.
Bob Stott, known to many for his role as Dame Dotty, sadly passed away on Thursday, May 14, aged 80.

As well as being known for Dame Dotty, Bob performed with The Westovians in a wide variety of productions throughout the years - including taking part in musicals.
In a Facebook post, The Westovians said: “Bob was an active member of the society for many, many years, playing a huge variety of roles.
“He graced our stage countless times, and is remembered especially fondly by many as the dame in a series of pantomimes alongside his partner in crime, our very own Ray Spencer.”
Bob’s daughters Tracey Smith and Vicki Oxenham have spoken fondly of his musical performances with the society and revealed that their lives were filled with “an endless” amount of artists as a result.
