Sunny spells are expected across South Tyneside today - although rain could return by this afternoon.
Forecasters at the Met Office predict skies will be clearer and sunny periods until 5pm, when rain is expected to fall.
Those showers will continue until about 9pm.
Temperatures are expected to get as high as 5 °c.
