South Tyneside Council makes homes more energy efficient

The council-owned bungalows, in Wood Terrace, Hebburn, have been made more energy efficient, thanks to funding from Hebburn Community Area Forum and South Tyneside Homes, which paid for new insulation, cladding and improved guttering.

Councillor Jim Sewell, Chairman of the Hebburn Community Area Forum, said: “We were aware that residents in these bungalows felt that they were feeling the cold.

“We are delighted to have been able to respond to their concerns by installing energy efficient solutions to their homes.”

The work was carried out by South Shields company Templetown Canopies.

Wood Terrace resident Kenneth Rutherford said: “Everyone is really impressed with the work and we’re a lot warmer now.”
