South Tyneside’s Armed Forces Day sees thousands raised for veteran’s charities
Annual Armed Forces celebration has seen thousands raised for charities that support South Tyneside veterans.
Two charities that support South Tyneside veterans have benefited thanks to bikers who took part in the borough’s annual Armed Forces celebration.
Veterans in Care and NAAFI Break South Tyneside have both received £1,500 from the Bad-Landers MCC, who organised the bike procession for the event on Sunday, June 21.

Around 500 bikers travelled from Sunderland to South Tyneside to lead the celebration, with the riders followed by a brass band and military procession.
Bikers had to pay to take part in the event, with all of the proceeds going to charity.
Following the service, there was plenty of family activities to get involved in throughout the day, including fairground rides, stalls, music and food and drink vendors.

Councillor Stan Wildhirt, Mayor of South Tyneside, has previously praised the impressive turnout for the annual celebration as the borough back its Armed Forces community.
He said: “It is such a wonderful event for the whole family and a fitting tribute to the Borough’s military personnel, past and present.
“The day gave us all an opportunity to show support for the amazing work they do to help keep our country safe and to reflect on the enormous commitment and sacrifices they make.
“The turnout once again spoke volumes about the respect and appreciation our community has for our Armed Forces, not only on this special day, but throughout the year.”
