The Divine Comedy announced for North East New Year's Eve gig
Sage Gateshead is inviting audiences to ring in the New Year with a performance from pop act, The Divine Comedy.
The celebrated Northern Irish act, known in part for being responsible for the themes from Father Ted and The IT Crowd, found fame in the nineties, with a string of hits including National Express, Something for the Weekend and their last single To The Rescue.

Hide AdFrontman Neil Hannon has led the group through its 11 studio albums as part of The Divine Comedy, as well as two albums with his cricket themed musical side project The Duckworth Lewis Method.
He has also composed a short opera, a concerto, and a musical theatre version of Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons.
Neil is currently working on a stage musical based on Father Ted and a new Divine Comedy album, due for release in 2019.
Audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a welcome drink, four-course dinner including coffee and petit fours and a cheese platter, and a midnight celebration drink to ring in the New Year, alongside performances from the band and special guests.
The event, on Monday, December 31, will start at 8.30pm
