There are too many excuses

Yet again, those of us who have to use the Metro in order to get to work have been faced with long delays.

Buses we are assured will be put on to help get people to where they need to go but not enough buses are laid on to cope with the number of people who need to use them.

I also cannot understand how the weather can constantly be used as an excuse. In the winter we are more often than not going to be faced with rain, snow and ice. In the autumn of course there will be strong winds with the danger of broken trees, and, heaven forbid, falling leaves on the lines.

Surely, after millennia of weather we could have come up with a solution to some of these problems.

It also amazes me though that we are told that allowances must be made for the weather during the autumn and winter months but what is the excuse for the lack of trains in the summer months or on the days when the weather isn’t playing a role in these delays.

The Great North Run is an occasion that springs to mind. Yes, there were excuses but not really that valid ones.

I like to get the Metro in to Newcastle on a Saturday, given how difficult and not to say expensive it is to park there, but on occasion I have been faced with having to use a bus yet again.

There are just too many excuses for what is really a very poor service.
