Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 19 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.
Take a look and see if you can open your heart and home to a new four-legged friend!

17. Fizz (Crossbreed)
Fizz came in to the shelter as a very unsure stray. She was very uncertain about her new environment and took a little bit of time to settle and find her confidence. There is no history on her or whether she has met any cats or other small animals, if she is rehomed with any, careful introductions will be required. Fizz is a bundle of joy when she has gotten to know you and loves to play, sometimes getting a little carried away and can be cheeky and mouthy with it. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

18. Smudge
Smudge is an adorable young tom cat that loves attention, he meows as soon as he knows your around to make sure you notice him. Smudge runs straight to you circling your feet while purring, he makes sure you give him some love! | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

19. Zelda (American Bulldog Cross)
Zelda is a lovely, sweet young girl who can be a little nervous initially though she is coming on beautifully with her confidence. Zelda did struggle with the shelter environment when she first arrived and would hide away from anyone she was unsure of. However, now that she has settled in – her confidence has slowly started to grow. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

20. Truffle
Truffle is a lovely, young girl – a typical, energetic kitten who enjoys playing and spending time with our staff and volunteers – she loves attention and being made a fuss of. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
