Thief who stole whisky from B&M Bargains is behind bars - at his own request

John Attrill stole a bottle of Jura whisky – worth £23.99 – from B&M Bargains in the Viking Shopping Centre, Jarrow, on Saturday, May 28.
The 47-year-old admitted a charge of shop theft when he appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

Attrill, of Cardonnel Street, North Shields, was jailed for eight weeks.
Magistrates decided to impose a custodial sentence due to Attrill’s previous record, his breach of the conditional discharge and the fact that he himself asked to be sent to prison at the hearing.
Attrill was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £85 costs.
