LNER trains running again after line reopens following damage to overhead line near York
Trains were cancelled and services amended, with a coach service drafted in to help passengers get between York and Newcastle following damage to the cables earlier this afternoon.
The problem left the whole route blocked between York and Northallerton, with people urged to defer their trip until tomorrow or look to find another route, with tickets accepted using other train firms.
London North Eastern Railway has now confirmed the lines reopened.
The company has said if passengers have been delayed by 30 minutes or more or have chosen to defer their journey until tomorrow – which it recommended during the course of the problems, they can look to claim back cash.
