Metro passengers are being urged to leave extra time for their journey as trains are delayed by up to 30 minutes on Thursday, June 3.

Nexus, the operator of the Tyne and Wear Metro service, has confirmed that trains running from South Shields and Sunderland to Newcastle are being hit by delays of up to 30 minutes from around 7am this morning.

However, trains are running to all destinations but not to timetable.

Passengers are able to use Metro tickets on Go North East services 26/27 from South Shields to Newcastle and Go North East service 56 from Sunderland to Newcastle, until 7.40am.
