Metro service at Hebburn resumes after points failure

Metro services have resumed between Heworth and Hebburn and Pelaw and Hebburn after a points failure.

Trains were halted between Heworth and Hebburn and Pelaw and Hebburn this morning, Wednesday, February 10, due to a points failure.

Nexus, which runs the system apologised for any inconvenience after the issue was reported at 8.10am.

The operator confirmed that metro services were back in action at 9.15am.

In a statement online Nexus said: “Service has now resumed and trains are running between Pelaw and Hebburn in both directions.

"This was due to a points failure. Metro apologises for any inconvenience caused.”

The service provider said trains are now running to all destinations but some services are delayed.

In a tweet Tyne and Wear metro said: “The earlier points failure has now been rectified.

Trains are running to all destinations but some services are delayed. Thank you for your patience during this time.”
