Metro system down between Sunderland and South Hylton after train breaks down

Nexus, which runs the system, says there are trains on the section between the city centre and South Hylton in both directions due to a failed train at Park Lane, with Stagecoach accepting Metro tickets on bus services 8 and 20.

The issue was reported at 7.30am today, Tuesday, November 10.

As of 7.45am, train has also been withdrawn from service at South Shields due to a fault, leading to a gap in the service of up to 20 minutes to trains running between South Shields and South Gosforth.

A further train has been withdrawn at Pelaw due to a fault, which has caused a gap in the service of up to 20 minutes for trains running between Pelaw and South Hylton, while there have also been delays between South Hylton and Airport due to signalling problems.

A number of services have been cancelled due to driver availability.They are:
