Track fault causes Metro services to be suspended between Jarrow and South Shields

Tyne and Wear Metro have reported that no services are running between Jarrow and South Shields due to a track fault.

Shortly after 2pm on Wednesday, April 14, Tyne and Wear Metro reported that a track fault has suspended services in both directions between Jarrow and South Shields

Nexus, who operate the Metro services have confirmed that tickets and passes can be used on the Go North East bus services 26 and 27 between Heworth and South Shields.

Trains are still running to Jarrow station where they are terminating.

A tweet from Tyne and Wear Metro said: “The service remains suspended in both directions between Jarrow and South Shields, staff are travelling to rectify the track issue.

“Metro tickets and passes can be used on the Go North East bus services 26 and 27 between Heworth and South Shields.”
