Tributes pour in for 23-year-old South Shields man found dead at gran's home

Score of tributes have been paid to a South Tyneside man who was found dead at the age of 23.

The body of Lee Adamson was discovered at his grandmother’s home in St Vincent Street, South Shields, on Wednesday morning.

South Tyneside coroner Terence Carney has opened an investigation into Mr Adamson’s death.

Police say there is not believed to be any third-party involvement in the death.

His death has sparked a flood of emotional online tributes from friends.

Samantha Garbutt posted on Lee’s Facebook page: “Sweet dreams, Lee. RIP.”

Suzy Steele added: “RIP Lee. Cannot believe am reading this. so sad.”

Jamie Barker stated; “Cannot believe you are gone kid, but you are in a better place now. Rest in peace.”

Graham Erickson wrote of how he had fond memories of growing up a person he described as a “fantastic lad” who was “always a pleasure to be around”.

Mr Erickson wrote; “Such sad sad news mate. My thoughts are with all your wonderful family. I have so many fond memories growing up in the street together with you and my kid. You were always a pleasure to be around.

“Truly a fantastic lad who will be sorely missed and has left us far too soon.”

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “At 9.40am on Wednesday, February 24, police attended an address in St Vincent Street, in South Shields, after a man in his 20s had been pronounced dead.

“There is believed to be no third-party involvement and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
