A South Shields seafront spot proved a prime location for film crews from the popular ITV drama, Vera, yesterday.

Cameras were rolling at The Dragon, a piece of land which runs between Bents Park Road Sea Road, throughout the day.

The long-running show, which is broadcast across the globe, took over the Steamboat pub and the Mission to Seafarers to shoot scenes last year.

The series stars Brenda Blethyn as the eponymous Vera Stanhope, a driven and dedicated with the fictional Northumberland & City Police.
