Two call outs see people brought to safety from South Shields coastal spot

Two people were helped to safety close to cliff tops over Marsden in a double call out for emergency crews.

South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB) was alerted at 6.17pm yesterday, Monday, April 12, to the Marsden area, when concerns were raised for a person.

When the team arrived alongside Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team, the man was in police care.

Earlier, at 12.42pm, both crews attended a similar incident in the Marsden Grotto area and arrived to find the police had the incident in hand.
