Two Jarrow schools honour their chair of governors for 20 years in the role

John Waton has been honoured by two Jarrow schools that are part of the Mosaic Federation as he celebrates two decades in the role as the chair of governors.
The federation, which is made up of Valley View Primary School, on Valley View, and Hedworthfield Primary School, on Linkway, has paid tribute to him for dedicating the last 20 years to improving the education of children in the Primrose and Hedworth communities.

Hide AdTo honour John, pupils from both schools made a card and presented a gift from all of the children.
Mrs Jeynes, the executive headteacher, has highlighted that John’s commitment to both schools has helped drive success.
She said: “Mr Watson has been a driving force for over 20 years. Firstly, in his role as chair of Valley View Primary School and in 2017 as chair of both Valley View and Hedworthfield primary schools within the Mosaic Federation.
“His commitment to the best possible experiences and outcomes for all children has driven the success of both schools.

John, who has lived in Jarrow his whole life, has worked in the construction industry for nearly 30 years in a variety of roles where he has gianed extensive experience to help in his role as chair of governors.
During his two decades as a school governor, John has overseen eight Ofsted inspections and in 2014, he was designated as a National Leader of Governance, as well as completing the National College for Teaching and Leadership’s Chair of Governors Leadership Development Programme.
