"We urge all players to check their tickets, to see if they have scooped the £51.8million jackpot, so they can begin to enjoy their life-changing win as soon as possible."

Four ticket holders matched five numbers and one lucky star in Tuesday's draw, winning £207,523.40 each, while 12 people matched five numbers, winning £23,058.10.

The latest win comes just weeks after a British player was the sole winner of a £24.6million jackpot.

And in February a ticket holder in Ireland claimed a 66 million euro (£50million) share of the EuroMillions jackpot.

Last week, a Briton won the biggest Lotto prize ever when they matched all six numbers in the draw to win £35,133,888.

The UK's biggest Euromillions winners, couple Colin and Chris Weir, scooped £161,653,000 in July 2011.

The cameraman and nurse, from Largs in Ayrshire, reportedly lavished a portion of their winnings on cars for friends, a mansion and a donation to the Scottish independence campaign.

A year later Adrian and Gillian Bayford, from Haverhill, Suffolk, won £148,656,000, and had plans to splurge their new-found fortune on exotic cars and luxury holidays.

However, Mr Bayford, a record seller, and his nurse wife later divorced, citing an irretrievable breakdown in the marriage.
