Water restored to homes in South Shields after burst water main on Westoe Road on New Year's Day

Northumbrian Water has confirmed that homes in the NE33 South Shields post code area were left with no water or low pressure after the burst main on the morning of New Year’s Day.

Water has been restored to all residents and water pressure is expected to return to normal across the area later on New Year’s Day.

A spokesperson for Northumbrian Water said: “Work has completed to restore water to all properties affected by this morning’s water mains burst in Westoe Road, South Shields. We are now working to restore pressure to its normal levels.

“Any customers who continue to experience low pressure should see this improve throughout the day.

“We apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused and thank them for their patience."
