The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice tonight, Friday, January 8.

“Icy stretches are likely to form, perhaps leading to some disruption to travel, with snow falling for some places,” it says.

“Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.”

The temperature is set to fall as low as 22C, but it will feel much colder in a brisk westerly wind.

A further yellow warning for ice is in place until 11pm tomorrow.
