LIVE Snow updates: Drivers face icy conditions as Met Office predicts further flurries as weather warning continues
Its forecasters say while the day will remain largely dry with some sunshine, the region could see some snow showers, particularly later on in the day.
The Met Office also warns we should expect another severe frost and ice stretches overnight, with the temperatures feeling especially cold because of a brisk breeze.

Good morning, we hope you're all keeping warm and safe as this chilling weather continues across our region.

Here is what it says we can expect from today's forecast:
Today: A very cold start to the day with a widespread frost and icy patches on untreated surfaces.
It'll be largely dry with light winds and plenty of sunshine. Perhaps a few light snow showers in the north later. Maximum temperature 2 °C.
Tonight: A largely dry and clear night with another severe frost and icy stretches.
Feeling very cold in the brisk breeze. Some isolated snow showers along the Northumberland coast. Minimum temperature -8 °C.
Tomorrow: Remaining very cold with strengthening southeasterly winds.
Largely dry and sunny but some increasing cloud spreading inland during the afternoon. A chance of snow showers along the Northumberland coast. Maximum temperature 2 °C.
What about the weekend ahead?
From Saturday and into Monday, it says it will remain windy throughout this period.
Dry but increasingly cloudy Saturday. Risk of snow or freezing rain spreading eastwards on Sunday.
Cloudy and wet but milder on Monday.
