On the first weekend of non-essential retail and beer gardens being open, the borough looks set to experience some bright and sunny but chilly weather.

Met Office forecasters are predicting that South Tyneside will experience sunny spells for the majority of the weekend however temperatures will barely creep out of single figures.

A bright but cold start is expected for Friday, with temperatures set to be around the 4°C however forecasters are saying that it will feel closer to 0°C.

The sunny weather looks set to continue heading into the afternoon with the odd patch of clouds, with temperatures reaching a daily high of 8°C.

Heading into the evening, it will start to get colder with some further cloudy spells.

Met Office forecasters are predicting an overcast start to Saturday with some sunny spells throughout the morning.

Winds from the South-East will make it feel colder, especially if you’re by the coast or on higher ground.

Forecasters expect another overcast start on Sunday morning with some sunny spells however it looks set to remain overcast throughout the day.

Despite the lack of sunny weather, Sunday looks set to be the warmest day of the weekend, with highs of 11°C.
