This is what South Tyneside's weather will be like this weekend as pubs and restaurants reopen

Saturday, July 4 will mark the reopening of several key areas of the hospitality sector including pubs, restaurants and cinemas, which have been closed since lockdown began in March.

It is the most significant easing of lockdown and social distancing measures to date but ‘unsettled’ weather conditions could deter some from venturing out.

According to Met Office forecasters, the North East is set for an ‘unsettled but humid weekend with strong winds, spells of occasionally heavy rain and some brightness’.

Friday, July 4

There will be heavy rain on Friday morning, which will turn cloudy by the afternoon.

Highs of 17°C are expected.

The rain could return in the evening, with a 50% chance of precipitation from 9pm.

Wind gusts will reach 31mph in the afternoon with medium levels of pollen.

Saturday

The forecast is cloudy for Saturday, with a 40% chance of light showers around lunchtime.

There will be mild highs of 19°C in the afternoon, which will remain consistent into the early evening.

Wind gusts of up to 28mph are expected along with high levels of pollen.

Sunday

Temperatures will feel slightly cooler going into Sunday in South Shields, but we’ll still see highs of around 19°C come the afternoon.

There will be sunny intervals throughout the morning, changing into light showers in the afternoon with a 30% chance of precipitation.

Strong gusts of up to 37mph have been forecast with pollen levels becoming milder.
