What price England to win Euro 2016 and Sunderland to 'do a Leicester' and lift Premier League title?
But what price would they give for an unlikely double, such as Roy Hodsgon's men triumphing in France and Sunderland or Newcastle United lifting some silverware?
Stranger things have happened: one Leicester fan won £20,000 after a drunken £5 bet on the Foxes to win the Premier League.
We asked leading bookmaker Ladbrokes for odds on some unlikely bets which North East football fans might want to wager a 'daft few quid' on.
This is what they came up with:
England to win Euro 2016/Sunderland to 'do a Leicester' and win Premier League in 2016-17 9000/1
England to win Euro 2016/Sunderland to stay in Premier League in 2016-17 12/1
England to win Euro 2016/Sunderland to be relegated in 2016-17 40/1
England to win Euro 2016/Newcastle to win the Championship in 2016-17 25/1
England to win Euro 2016/Newcastle to make the play-offs in 2016-17 14/1
England to win Euro 2016/Newcastle to be relegated from the Championship in 2016-17 250/1
Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce and his Newcastle counterpart Rafa Benitez to both leave this summer 10/1
Jermain Defoe to be the Premier League top scorer 33/1
Who will finish higher in the Premier League? Sunderland 5/6 Boro Evens
Andros Townsend to leave Newcastle this summer? Yes 1/2 No 6/4
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Punters nationwide are confident about England, and any North East fans wanting to get some extra value for money might want to look at the Three Lions/Newcastle promotion double as the route to profit."
"The most popular outsider at the Euros for punters in the North East is Albania at 300/1, while away from England it's Les Bleus who have attracted the most cash.
"Should any one of favourites France, England, or longshots Albania get their hands on the trophy, we'll be paying for the beers for the rest of the summer on Tyne and Wearside."
