Those who were young in the 90s will remember when POGs were the talk of the playground, long before fidget spinners or Fortnite.
Now the collectible plastic discs are making a comeback - as an augmented reality mobile game.
POGs: The Mobile Game looks to bring the craze into the digital age, while still keeping the nostalgia of the original game intact. It even features many of the discs' original designs.
Created by Compton Technology, the premise is simple: players collect sets of digital POGs by scanning in real-world items, including any old POGs they may have lying around from their formative years.
Two players are then able to battle each other using virtual slammers and POGs, in an attempt to win as many pieces of their opponents' collection as possible.
According to the developers, "you will be able to compete with players from around the world in fast paced matches and tournaments".

The original game - a variation on the more traditional 'milk caps' game - saw players collect POGs before gambling their collection in battles.

Stacks of POGs had larger variants - known as 'slammers' - thrown down onto them, causing the POGs to scatter.
Those that landed face-side up went to the thrower, with whoever had claimed the most POGs by the end of the game declared the winner.
Though the game is officially backed and licensed by the World POG Federation, with no major publisher onboard, the developers have turned to crowd-funding website IndieGoGo to finance their project.
The ability to scan in your old POGs is currently only available to those who back the project, but you'll still be able to collect your favourite designs in digital form through playing the game.
