Wizz Air has resumed some flights - here’s what their enhanced safety measures look like

Wizz Air has resumed some flights out of Luton Airport with "enhanced" health and safety measures in place.

As the government is still advising people not to travel abroad, the budget airline only intends to restart 10 per cent of its scheduled flights.

These flights will restart on Friday (1 May) and will only be for passengers who need to make essential journeys.

Where will they fly to?

The newly restarted flights will fly from Luton Airport to selected airports in Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and Israel.

Are new safety measures being implemented?

As the selected flights resume, new social distancing measures will change the boarding experience, as well as the aircraft cleaning process.

In a statement, the airline explained that the plane will have to be disinfected overnight, while cabin crews will need to distribute sanitising wipes out to passengers.

Cabin crew will also be required to wear masks and gloves throughout the entirety of each flight.

Passengers are to be “strongly encouraged" to make on-board purchases with contactless payment methods.

Additionally, to help maintain social distancing at the airport, customers are being asked to check in online, as well as make any additional payments for services on the Wizz Air website before arriving for their flight.

Speaking about the new safety measures, Wizz Air UK's managing director, Owain Jones, said the health and safety of customers and staff is the airline’s utmost priority.
