Sunderland lad Jordan Henderson suffered the cruellest fate of all after England’s epic FIFA World Cup win against Mexico.
The former SAFC midfielder was an unused substitute during the match but he fell after climbing back over the advertising boards during the post-match singalong with fans.
He suffered a wrist injury and was taken to hospital.
In an update from the man himself, he suggested on Instagram that he will stay with Thomas Tuchel’s team.
“A night to remember that’s for sure! What an incredible performance against all the different challenges,” Henderson posted.
“So proud to be a part of this special team. Thanks for all the support, another big one Saturday.”
Today, we are sending our best wishes to the Sunderland-born star with a look back at some much more positive highlights of his fantastic career including the time he did play against England’s quarter final opponents Norway in 2012.
We also have great reminders of his days as a Black Cat, including the time when he mixed with youngsters who were on a visit to the University of Sunderland. The then Sunderland first team player had a go at table tennis, martial arts and took time to sign autographs.
