The superb Savilles shop still brings back memories for many South Tyneside music lovers.
For decades, it was the place to go if you wanted the latest LP, instruments or sheet music. Saville Bros had shops including at Keppel Street and King Street at different times.
We have photo memories from the Shields Gazette archives to show how it looked over the years and to relive the hits you could buy there.
Have a look and then get in touch to share your own recollections of a shop which held a place in many people’s hearts.
Perhaps you remember the downstairs record department or the listening booths where you could check out the records. Tell us what your first buy was at Savilles and what you loved most about the store.
