It’s that time of year when a new intake of smartly dressed children turn up for their first ever day at school on South Tyneside.
New uniforms, excited children and emotional parents were just part of the scene as these children set off for a first day in the classroom in 2006.
Re-live it all through these Shields Gazette archive photos which show pupils experiencing a whole new world of learning at Jarrow Cross, Mortimer Primary, Lukes Lane and Westoe Crown.
Others were starting out at Hadrian Primary. St James RC, St Mathew’s, St Joseph’s and St Bede’s.
Have a look and see if you can spot a familiar face. And if you do, get in touch and tell us more by emailing [email protected]
