Happy International Day for Museums everyone! As we all know, South Tyneside is packed with fantastic and historic places and we decided to celebrate some of them.
South Tyneside has some absolute gems including Arbeia, South Shields Museum, the Dolly Peel statue and the Lawe Top cannons.
There is Souter Lighthouse, Marsden Grotto and many more sites which are packed with interesting pasts.
With another Bank Holiday on the way, why not celebrate some of the historic treasures we have on our doorstep and enjoy a look back through the years.
You can also enjoy more memories from South Tyneside’s past on the Shields Gazette’s website by heading to the retro section.
