Three Lions on the shirt and Argentina among the competition. But this wasn’t Mexico and World Cup 2026.
It was Bents Park in South Shields in 2010 and dozens of youngsters were having the time of their lives in their own version of the World Cup.
Children from across South Tyneside competed during a full day of competition and they represented countries which were in the World Cup that year.
There was Argentina, Australia, England, New Zealand, Portugal and South Africa.
Schools from across the borough provided the pupils for the games and they included Laygate, Hadrian, St Bede’s, St Oswald’s, St James and St Matthew’s.
These Shields Gazette archive photos show the exciting action but we want to know which team emerged as the winners and were you one of the players on the winning team.
