Crumbie’s men fell behind midway through the first half at the Riverside as a long-range strike from Michael Spellman put the hosts ahead. However, Levi Collins continued his prolific form when he got his side back on level-terms just before the half-hour mark.

The game swung further in Boldon’s favour eight minutes before half-time when United were reduced to ten men after Cameron McHarg was dismissed for a strong tackle on Collins.

The Wearside League top goalscorer made the most of the numerical advantage that the decision gave his side as he went on to complete his fourth hat-trick of the season.

Former South Shields midfielder Dan Wright also got on the scoresheet once again as Boldon took control of the second half and claimed yet another win to stretch their lead at the top of the table to five points.

After the game, Crumbie told The Gazette: “I think it could have been a lot closer had they kept eleven men on the pitch. They were one up and their movement and pace was dangerous, but we always looked a threat.

“Once they went down to ten, we always looked in control of the game.

“We are delighted to have made it nine wins out of nine and it’s something we never really thought about.”

Boldon will now turn their focus towards their attempts to make it a perfect ten when Windscale travel to South Tyneside on Wednesday night.
