Daniel Moore sets 'perfect' challenge for promotion-chasing Hebburn Town
Hebburn Town travel to Northern Premier League Premier Division rivals Cleethorpes Town on Saturday.
Daniel Moore has challenged Hebburn Town to take maximum points from their last three fixtures to give themselves a chance to win the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
The Hornets have enjoyed a season that has exceeded all expectations and officially secured a play-off place with a narrow home win against former East Division title rivals Stockton Town on Bank Holiday Monday. All sights are now on seeing off title rivals FC United of Manchester and Hednesford Town as Moore’s men prepare for a visit to face a Cleethorpes Town side not yet out of the race for a top five spot.

Hebburn will have one eye on FC United’s trip to Guiseley and Hednesford’s home clash with North East neighbours Morpeth Town - although Moore has stressed his players must ‘look after themselves’ in their attempts to secure a historic promotion.
He told The Gazette: “We just have to do our bit. Between the three teams, we have all given it a good go in our own way. So we just have to look after ourselves and if we can win the last three games, whoever wins it deserves to win it. We believe if we win our three games, we have a chance and if we get pipped at the post, then that team deserves to win it.”
Tough spell

As it stands, Hebburn and Hednesford are sitting level on points at the top of the table - but FC United, who are two points adrift of the sole automatic promotion place, have the benefit of a game in hand. Moore has stressed the Red Rebels should be considered as title favourites and praised Mark Beesley’s side for coming through a challenging run of fixtures in recent weeks.
“FC United are probably favourites,” admitted the Hornets boss. “Four games at this stage of the season is tough and they had a tough spell of games but they have come through it and if they go on and win it, fair play to them. We have been there before when those games in hand become harder - but I think they are favourites.”
Moore could consider handing starts to Liam Murray and Olly Martin after they were named as substitutes for the win against Stockton.
