Former Hebburn Town forward Olly Martin joins Blyth Spartans
The Hebburn Town FA Vase final match-winner has found a new club just weeks after leaving the National League North newcomers.
Former Hebburn Town forward Olly Martin has completed a move to Northern Premier League East Division club Blyth Spartans.
The versatile forward played an integral role in the most successful period in Hornets history after scoring the winning goal in their FA Vase final win against former Northern League rivals Consett. Martin was also a regular goalscorer as Hebburn secured promotion into step four of the non-league pyramid for the first time and was part of the squad that has claimed the Northern Premier League East Division and Premier Division titles over the last three seasons.

However, after scoring 80 goals in 260 games for his hometown club, Martin confirmed his departure last month and was the subject of interest from several Northern Premier League and Northern League clubs in the weeks that followed. He has now opted to join Spartans as he becomes Marc Nash’s second summer signing just hours after the Croft Park club confirmed full-back Rhys Evans had agreed to return for a second stint in green and white after spending the last two seasons with Morpeth Town.
Speaking after completing the deal for Martin, Spartans boss Nash immediately backed the former Hebburn man to become a firm favourite with the Spartans faithful.
He told the club website: “Olly's a player with huge pedigree who has seen it all at Hebburn during their rise through the leagues, capped off by scoring the winning goal in the FA Vase Final at Wembley. To beat off some serious competition for his signature is a real statement from the club and one the fans will no doubt love. There have been some big personalities at this football club over the years, and Olly has all the attributes to become another huge favourite here.”
Martin added: “I am buzzing to get it done. Everyone knows the stature of this football club and as soon as I spoke to Nash and had a walk around the ground, I knew I'd made the right choice. You can see the ambition around the place straight away and I can't wait to get going in front of the fans.”
