Hebburn Town Reserves' fightback keeps Wearside League title dreams alive

Hebburn Town Reserves came from 2-0 behind to secure a 3-2 win over Hartlepool in a game that keeps up their TWR Bi Folds Wearside Football League title ambitions.

Jamie Tumility scored twice in the first half to put Pools in a commanding position.

However, Josh Houghton pulled one back with a free-kick just before half-time, and two minutes into the second half, they equalised in controversial fashion.

Hartlepool keeper Elliot Coils was flattened in the box, but the referee waved play on and at the third attempt, Gary Crutwell fired the ball home.

The winner came in the 59th minute, when Coils fumbled the ball and Jamie Lawson gleefully scored from close range, for a 3-2 victory.

Harton and Westoe CW let a two-goal lead slip against Redcar Athletic, losing 3-2 in dramatic fashion.

Harton took the lead through Aaron Coulson’s close-range shot and he scored his second on the stroke of half time, when he converted a good cross from Grant Pressling past goalkeeper Will Lawrence.

The fightback began in the 46th minute when Adam Preston burst through and netted, and with eight minutes left, he equalised from the penalty spot.

Five minutes later, Coulson hit the bar and in the 96th minute, Redcar won the game in dramatic fashion, with a back header from Stuart Brown to win by 3-2.

The games between South Shields Reserves v Annfield Plain, Jarrow v Darlington RA and Boldon CA v Stokesley SC were postponed because of waterlogged pitches.
